Getting The Truck Ready

The dad’s version of nesting usually shows up in the form of home renovations or some sort of DIY project. I’d say by that definition I’ve been nesting my whole life. Haha, but in all seriousness, I can say the way it hit me was like turning the volume up on how many projects I “needed” to get done before the baby joined us.

I spent a couple of days just working on the truck alone. I spent hours pressure washing it, vacuuming out the entire interior, and wiping down all the dust. That truck hasn’t looked so clean since the day I bought it. But it didn’t stop there, I also pulled the front seats and reupholstered the lower cushions, changed out all of the spark plugs, did an oil change, blew out the air filter, fixed and made sure all the tire pressure sensors worked, checked the spare tire, put together a box of tools in case we get stranded on the side of the road for some mechanical reason.

Once I exhausted cleaning and fixing up the truck I started trying different combinations for loading all of the baby stuff. I installed our new car seat on the driver's side and then on the passenger side. I flipped the seats up for more room and flipped them back down. I dry fit loading our stroller and wagon first on one side, then on the other.

As crazy as that makes me feel, I simply can’t wait to meet the little one and have that practice actually be our new reality for the next season that we are entering.
